How to use ATM there and what are fees?

It is believed, that banks in Italy have one of the highest rates and charge huge fees anywhere in the world. However, foreign card-holders are not subject to any fees from Italian banks’ side, so make sure your local currency as well as the currency of the airport is EURO.

If your card´s currency is different, the cash will be exchanged at the wholesale exchange rate which is always better than the rate at any local currency exchange. as for the fees, usually your home bank is the one that charges for using a foreign ATM. It varies from bank to bank. The average fee is either a flat fee (between $1-$5) or a percentage of the withdrawal (1-2%).
